Culminating Point
A real-time strategy game of the war in 1941, where logistics decides it: depots, crates and green trucks set how far a division can go. Early Access: playable now, still growing. Free to play in the browser, in English and Italian.
How the game works
The map is made of hexes of 15 km, with fronts and divisions. Most of the game is the supply, in crates: a depot holds crates, its green trucks carry them along the roads to the divisions within its reach, and a division carries five crates and eats them by what it does. With none left it fights and moves at a quarter of its strength.
Every advance works against the attacker: the trucks' reach ends where the depot's does, and a division beyond it runs dry in a few days. So every offensive has a culminating point, and the game is about where yours lies.
Campaigns
North Africa from March 1941, and the Two Banks, an invented world. Each is played from either side against the AI, in real time with pause. A side wins when it holds every victory point on the map. The game speaks English and Italian and runs in a browser on a computer, or on a tablet or a phone held in landscape; it installs as an app and plays offline.
Questions
Is the game finished?
No. Culminating Point is in Early Access. You can play it now, and it keeps growing: new content arrives over the coming versions, and what you play today may change.
Is Culminating Point free?
Yes. You play it in the browser at culminating-point.com. There is no account to create and nothing to buy.
What does it run on?
A desktop browser on Windows, macOS, Linux or ChromeOS, or a tablet or a phone held in landscape. You can install it as an app, and then it also works offline. On a phone, install it first: the app fills the screen, where the browser’s bar would not leave room. The game shows how.
Which languages is it in?
English and Italian; you switch in Settings. The field manual is only in English for now.
Where do I report a bug or ask for a feature?
On the public tracker at github.com/Culminating-Point/culminating-point-feedback, in English or Italian. The About screen in the game links to it. For a question you would rather not post, write to hello@culminating-point.com.
Can I play against other people?
No, it is single player against the AI. Each campaign can be played from either side.
How is it different from other Second World War strategy games?
In most of them a unit is either in supply or out of it. Here you move the supply yourself: crates go by truck from depots you build, along roads the enemy can cut, and an attack gets as far as your trucks can keep up with it.
